Kathleen Vaughan is a consultant for the mortgage industry, focusing on the development of a global workforce, managing offshore vendors, and leading large projects in the Correspondent & Wholesale channels.
She brings more than 30 years of experience in mortgage lending and 12 years in the global sourcing arena.
At Stearns Lending, she was a member of the Executive Leadership team where she led the third- party businesses. At the time, Wholesale was the largest of its kind. Correspondent grew eight-fold under her leadership and was successfully sold to Flagstar. Kathleen also led the Global Sourcing initiative; she sourced vendors through an RFP process and led the initiative through selection, contract negotiation, and knowledge transfer to India. This reduced expenses and increased efficiency by way of a 24-hour clock.
Her career at Wells Fargo spanned 20 years within which she led multiple businesses. She led the Wholesale business to the number one position in its category, leading both sales and operations with full P&L accountability. She also led the Home Equity business for all mortgage channels with full P&L accountability.
The Wholesale business was a beta site for multiple initiatives for offshoring after the acquisition of Wachovia and the bank’s decision to enter the global workforce model. When the bank exited the Wholesale business, Kathleen stayed to work as a lead in global sourcing. She consolidated Wachovia’s international vendors and placed FTE in India for business processes & technology, the Philippines for English voice, Colombia for Spanish voice, and in Chile, where many analytical processes were placed.
Prior to Wells Fargo, Kathleen held the position of COO of a privately held mortgage firm. She began her career at Goldman Sachs in money management. She sits on multiple Boards and is a trained lawyer and holds a degree in Economics from UCLA and JD from Stanford University.
